Löw may lose three for friendly
National coach Joachim Löw looks like having to do without three players for Tuesday's EURO 2008 warm-up against Belarus.
Injury and illness kept Rene Adler, Tim Borowski and Philipp Lahm out of Saturday training at the national team's base in Mallorca.
Adler with bruised pelvis
Leverkusen keeper Adler is being treated for a bruised pelvis and Lahm is out of action for the moment with a thigh injury. Borowski is still being rested due to a bout of flu. Löw's assistant Hansi Flick said, "Borowski has had the worst of it. But we're hoping he'll be able to do some light training again on Sunday. Adler and Lahm should also be able to train a bit then as well."
The squad will fly back to Germany on Monday, where they will be joined by captain Michael Ballack. Following Tuesday evening's game in Kaiserslautern, they will return to the training camp in Mallorca until Friday.
Squad to be trimmed
All 26 provisional squad members will make that flight. On Wednesday, the players will learn which three have not made the cut for the final 23-man squad.
Head coach Joachim Löw has to give UEFA offical notification of his squad by 28 May. Germany then have another warm-up match against Serbia on 31 May in Gelsenkirchen. After that, the players have two days off before heading out to their EURO 2008 headquarters in Ascona.
