Lubango, 05/20 – The construction of the new football stadium to host the African Cup of Nations (CAN2010) in Lubango city, south Huíla province, is 30 percent built, ANGOP learnt Tuesday from a source of the supervising company, Egídio Armando.
According to the civil construction engineer of "Nuclear" Supervising Firm, there are no delays in its execution and everything is happening according to plan, thanks to the anticipated supply of necessary materials for its success.
"(...) Concerning the course of works, we think that until August or September 2009, after the finishing works, Sinno Hidro company might be in conditions to hand over the infrastructure, he emphasized.
Egídio Armando said that the Chinese company has two alternating teams: one that works from 08am to 06pm and another from 06pm to 06am, a strategy that is enabling the contractor to gain time and fulfil the working plan, with the placing of about 400 cubic metres of concrete per day.
The new Lubango’s stadium, with capacity for 25,000 spectators, is being built since last January in Tchioco ward, southern region of Lubango city. The conclusion is set for October 2009.
Angola will host the first African Cup of Nations in 2010. For this purpose, the country is building from new stadium in the cities that will host the competition, namely Luanda, Cabinda, Benguela and Lubango.
