Cafu considers coaching role Monday 19 May, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Milan veteran Marcos Cafu has played his final game for the Rossoneri, but could return to San Siro in a backroom capacity.
The Brazilian defender signed from Roma in 2003 and conquered Europe twice with the Diavolo during a highly successful five-year spell.
However, the 37-year-old’s contract expires next month and he has decided to call time on his Italian adventure after scoring in yesterday’s 4-1 win over Udinese.
“This is a really sad moment for me because I am leaving and I will miss this team greatly,” Cafu explained.
“I will be heading home and I’m going on holiday for two or three months before I decide whether I should retire or continue playing.
“I spoke to Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani and he told me that the doors will always be open if I decided to come back and work for the club.
“One thing is certain – I will never forget my time here because they were a brilliant five years.”
Cafu and compatriot Serginho are the first of the old guard to head for the exit in what is expected to be an extensive summer clearout after the world champions failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

He probably should have called it a day last year but his goal at the weekend was a good way to sign off.
