Dejan Stankovic is celebrating a “thoroughly deserved” Serie A title. “Everyone can hate us, but we are the best.”

Inter secured the Scudetto this afternoon with a 2-0 victory at Parma after Roma had closed the gap to just one point going into this final weekend.

“It was tough, especially the last month and a half. Everyone can hate us and invent all kinds of stories to do us down, but we are the best,” said Stankovic.

“I compliment Roma, who played spectacular football and believed until the end, but it is no coincidence if Inter are on top of the table for two years running.”

Last season the two teams had also duelled for the trophy, although it was sealed up a long time before the last round.

“It was more enjoyable to win in the last game, under the pouring rain and with Parma fighting to stay in Serie A.”

Douglas Maicon also insists there was no truth in reports Inter were gripped by fear and panic.

“We were not afraid because we are all champions,” said the Brazilian. “The team proved it wanted this Scudetto. We had to run more than Parma and eventually our quality would shine through.”
