Bayern go four stars

Bayern Munich will be the first team in the history of Die Bundesliga to be allowed to have four stars on their shirt.

The Bavarians celebrated their 20th national title last week and, as a consequence, Jurgen Klinsmann’s team will be the first to have the privilege of wearing a “four-star shirt.”

The teams that have won three or four titles since 1963, like Werder Bremen, Hamburg, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart, sport one star on their shirts, the teams that have won it between five and nine times have two stars – only Borussia Monchengladbach – and starting from 10 titles it is three stars.

Bayern are the first club that have reached the prestigious figure of 20 titles, and as a consequence they deserve such an honour.

“Bayern are the first club to have this honour and regarding their advance on the other clubs, they will be on their own for a long time,” Bundesliga director Tom Bender declared.
