Jol Poised To Accept HSV Post
Hamburg’s search for a new trainer looks to be nearing an end with Martin Jol tipped to accept the job in the next few days.
The search for a successor to Huub Stevens seems to be over at Hamburg as Dutchman Martin Jol looks set to accept the post this week and be unveiled at the HSH Nordbank Arena.
52 year old Jol has been selected by HSV board as the one to take over the reins when current trainer Huub Stevens returns to Holland at the end of the season.
The former Tottenham manager has also been linked with the jobs at both Twente Enschede and Borussia Dortmund, but after much deliberation it is being reported that he will accept the Hamburg job.
HSV had also been in talks with Gerard Houllier over the soon-to-be vacant post at the club, but the Frenchman has preferred to remain in his role with the French Football Federation.
Jol was fired by Spurs earlier this season to make way for Juande Ramos at White Hart Lane. His only success as trainer so far came back in 1997, when he led Roda Kerkrade to the Dutch Cup.
