Well today was not a day for any of the Bundesliga top five team supporters... that is the BEST of the news... hence, Bayern are not hurt by their lackluster performance today.
The draw was justified as Bayern were searching desperatly all game for the equalizer - I don't think it is fair to say Bayern don't deserve the win - come on! This is füssball and this is how things happen. No one team can claim they are amazing this year in any league of worth this season... ie. Real Madrid's mid season slump, the latest mess at the top of the Premiership, etc, etc. Bayern is no different - every team is out to knock them off in the Bundesliga and thus give them their best match typically. Bayern simply are doing what they need to do to survive while in the running for 3 trophies, even when they are playing not up to snuff. Good teams find ways to grind out a result in those instances. We saw a great example of that today. So at some point, we fans have to be watching a game like this and say "looks like one of those days for Bayern" and be satisfied in carving out a late draw. I just don't get the whole we-need-to-be-amazing-every-match mentality. That is so unrealistic in füssball.
Yeah, Bayern did not have it all today. No finishing, no refined consistant passing, not impregnable defense, but some stellar goalkeeping. We definitely missed two players that have added some stability of late - Demichelis, and Ailtontop.
In a nutshell, you win at home, and draw on the road. You follow that principle and I guarantee you finish in the top 3 EVERY year in the Bundesliga. Trust me. Occasionally, you sneak 3 points on the road to make up for those once-in-a-blue-moon fockups at home.
Not rocket science. We simply call it Bayern Düsel - when Bayern is pulling a Bayern, the rest of the league is doing its best to help cushion the fall.
Thank you to all those teams helping the cause today.
