Veh: Mario Gomez Is Staying
Stuttgart trainer Armin Veh has once again moved to end speculation over the future of German international striker Mario Gomez by insisting the player is staying with the club.
“Mario is 100% part of our plans for the future” Veh stressed in an interview with ‘Südwest Presse’.
The Stuttgart striker will remain with the Swabians at least until 2012 according to the VfB trainer and Veh is keen to put an end once and for all to the rumours linking Gomez with a move to a ‘top European’ club.
“Mario will definitely stay. He has a contract until 2012. If he only had one until 2009, it would be a different story.
“There is always going to be a market for a player like Mario, but definitely not this summer” Veh explained.
Gomez was linked with a move to Juventus last summer and it seems likely that despite Armin Veh’s insistence, the rumours over a potential move to Serie A or La Liga will surface again this summer- particularly if the striker has a good tournament at the European Championships.
