Rocchi is Lazio for life Wednesday 20 February, 2008

After months of agonising speculation, Lazio’s star striker Tommaso Rocchi has committed to a new contract with the club.

The Venetian hitman has carved a reputation for himself with consecutive 16-goal campaigns and has already found the net eight times this term.

Lazio have been keen to tie the 30-year-old to the Stadio Olimpico beyond his previous expiry date of 2009 and, after many breakdowns in negotiations, an agreement has been reached as he has signed until 2013.

“Lazio for life!” a statement on Rocchi’s personal website reads.

“I am very happy to have found a deal that keeps me with the Aquile for another five years and therefore for the rest of my career.

“This is what I always wanted and I am delighted because I have waited faithfully for this moment. Thanks to all the fans who have supported me and given me the strength to keep going.”

It is believed that Rocchi’s new deal will net him around £1m per season until 2013 when he will be 36-years-old.

Well it's taken a while but he's finally signed, I'm not sure about a five year contract though.
