Di Carlo: I will fight on Wednesday 6 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The pressure is mounting on Parma boss Domenico Di Carlo, but he is adamant that he will fight for his job at the Stadio Tardini.

Parma suffered their first home defeat against Atalanta in 34 years last weekend and slipped into the relegation zone.

Despite the January arrival of Azzurri marksman Cristiano Lucarelli, things look bleak for the Emilia-Romagna outfit and there is intense speculation that President Tommaso Ghirardi could pull the plug on inexperienced tactician Di Carlo.

“I have watched the tape of Sunday’s game and strangely it doesn’t seem to be merely a question of tactics,” Di Carlo claimed.

“It was our approach that was lacking and then every important incident went against us.”

The Ducali’s next outing truly is make or break for Di Carlo as they visit bottom side Cagliari.

“There’s time to put things right,” the former Mantova boss insisted. “We can make amends straight away against Cagliari, but we cannot play like we did against Atalanta.

“Have I heard anything from the President? I speak to him all the time. Ghirardi is right to be disappointed as we all were because we thought the game would go differently.

“We have to remain calm, but not too calm. I am confident because I have a mature squad.

“The key is to look back over the mistakes and correct them. That comes from moving forward together and also having 11 men defending. I can guarantee that we won’t get anything from Cagliari if we don’t chase and fight.”
