French midfielder Ousmane Dabo has returned to Lazio after a miserable spell at Manchester City.

Since leaving the Biancocelesti for Eastlands in 2006, Dabo’s career has stalled with the 30-year-old playing just 13 games in England.

Things went from bad to worse for the struggling former Inter man when he was assaulted by former teammate Joey Barton during training last May – an incident that resulted in police action.

Having played just one game this term, Dabo will be relieved to return to the Stadio Olimpico where he spent a successful three-year spell after arriving from Atalanta in 2003.

“We have brought Dabo home and we are waiting to finalise the transfer,” Lazio President Claudio Lotito declared after yesterday’s Coppa Italia victory over Fiorentina.
