Italian international defender Fabio Grosso continues to receive harsh criticism in France, but he isn’t letting the Press get to him.

The World Cup winner left Inter for a new adventure at Lyon last summer for a fee of around £5m and he signed a four-year deal.

While life with Les Gones hasn’t been smooth sailing for Grosso, who has regularly come under fire in L’Equipe, the former Perguia man insists that criticism doesn’t faze him.

“My career is a rags to riches story. I have risen from the bottom to the top and I have never listened to what people say,” Grosso told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lyon are running away with the French title for a seventh consecutive season, but Grosso has been called upon to play a slightly limited role.

“I like to attack. At the start of the season we were more open, but now we are a different side and I go forward less,” he admitted.

“But, at the end of the day, football is a team sport and when the team wins I am happy.”
