Hamburg to announce new coach tomorrow!
German side Hamburger SV have begun their search for the successor to current boss Huub Stevens - and are using scouts to find the new man!
As revealed several months ago, Hamburger SV coach Huub Stevens will step down from his position at the end of the season to become the new boss of PSV Eindhoven.
The Dutchman has been a tremendous success for the Hanseaten since joining in February last year, but his wife's long-term illness has prompted him to return back to the Netherlands.
Lengthy Process
Unlike rivals Bayern Munich, who appointed Jürgen Klinsmann their new manager a mere four days after beginning their search, Hamburg are opting for the slow and thorough approach.
So much so that they've got their team of specialists to go on a scouting mission to find Stevens' successor.
Just like club's monitor potential transfers, HSV scouts will scour the continent looking for a suitable man to take the hotseat at the HSH Nordbank Arena.
Top Coach Is Critically Important
"The manager is the most important position in the whole club," said sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer. "So it makes sense to gather as much information as possible."
Hamburg have made tremendous progress under Stevens this year and a talented successor vital for them to continue on their upwards trend as they aim for regular Champions League football and trophies.
Key questions for the HSV chiefs include, according to Bild, whether potential candidates can keep their players in check, how tactically sound they are and how they run their training sessions. Discipline and good relations to both fans and media are also a must.
Scouts are observing managers at work during games and writing lengthy reports on what they see before reporting back to Hamburg. It is not yet known who - or even in which countries - the potential successors are.
