Sunderland have signed Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans on loan until the end of the season.
The Northern Ireland international spent part of the 2006/2007 campaign on loan at the Black Cats.
Evans made 19 appearances for the Black Cats in his last loan spell.
Evans goes straight into manager Roy Keane's squad for Saturday's FA Cup third-round home tie against Wigan.
The 20-year-old was bailed in December after a police investigation into an alleged rape at a hotel in Manchester city centre.
