Sonetti quits Cagliari – report Wednesday 19 December, 2007

Struggling Cagliari have been thrown into disarray after reports emerged that Coach Nedo Sonetti has handed in his resignation.

The veteran tactician has only been in charge of the side for five games after trigger-happy President Massimo Cellino showed Marco Giampaolo the door.

However, the switch has proved less than successful with Sonetti picking up just one point so far during his third stint at the Sardinian club.

Cagliari are set to hold talks with Sonetti this morning and then decide who will take over the unappetising hot-seat.

There is the serious possibility that Cellino will recall Giampaolo, just as he sensationally did last term, seeing as he is still contracted to the club until 2010.

However, that may prove problematic as it is understood that the two parties had held talks regarding the rescission of that deal during the last few weeks.
