Capello will start on less money than Sven Goran Eriksson earned at the end of his reign. But the Italian could finish his tenure as the RICHEST boss in football history.

Eriksson was earning £5million a year by the time he left Soho Square but Capello will start on £4.8m.

Yet his wages will rise considerably over the course of his 4½-year contract so he will pocket around £8m a year if he stays until 2012.

There is also a 10-day get-out period on both sides after the 2010 World Cup.

The significant point about Capello’s deal is it will be heavily weighted towards success.

He will receive an additional one-off pay-ment for England qualifying for the World Cup, then for reaching the last four and a multi-million pound bonus should the Three Lions win the trophy.
