Yes, because recent managers have always thought they have to play Lampard and Gerrard together no matter how poorly the work together etc.
If Hargreaves had been fit when McClaren had left Lampard out he would have started instead of Barry and done at least as good a job (which strangely enough every player seems to do when they play that "holding role" for England, whether Hargreaves, Barry or even L. King and Nicky Butt...
Also Hargreaves, like Robson, is one of those players that hardly gets mentioned in the press etc but is always a very solid important player in whatever team he plays in
