Villarreal in their last 2 league games have really missed to mount even more pressure on Real Madrid. Drew with Almeria last week when they had the chance to go top after Real Madrid’s draw against Murcia last week.
Valladolid really started this game well and put a lot of pressure on Villarreal. They should’ve been given a penalty earlier on in the game, but the ref decided to play advantage which llorente couldn’t take advantage of with his shot saved comfortably by Viera. They then got the lead through Llorente who put in a powerful head past viera after a brilliant cross from Sisi.
Villarreal could’ve equalised before halftime after nihat broke in behind the Valladolid defence and was one with Asenjo who was able to save nihats poor effort. Villarreal then pressurised Valladolid at the start of the second half with franco putting in a powerful shot which just went wide.
Valladolid then caught Villarreal on the break and sisi put in another cross which Llorente dummied and then victor put the ball away to get his 4th goal in 4 games. Llorente was in great in this game and it really is a shame that atheltic bilbao couldn’t sign him. Imo he is probably the best basque striker around at the moment. They have no chance now, since he signed a contract extension I think.
