CL: Liverpool 4-1 Porto (28.11.07)
Quote:
Liverpool tackle Porto on Anfield in a must-win game for last season's runners-up if they want to make the last 16 of this season's UEFA Champions League.
The Reds need to win both their final two group games, to have any real chance of progressing to the knockout stages after a slow start to their campaign.
There is sure to be fervent atmosphere at Anfield with Liverpool fans planning to show their support for Rafa Benitez as doubts continue to surround the long-term future of the Spanish tactician.
Porto, who lead Group A will qualify for the knockout stages if they win at Anfield, but a point would also be good enough for qualification if Marseille avoid defeat against Besiktas in the other game in the group.
Javier Mascherano is expected to be restored to the Liverpool starting XI after being rested against Newcastle last weekend.
Yossi Benayoun is fit again after recovering from a foot injury and he will hoping for a recall after scoring a hat-trick in his last game against Besiktas.
Daniel Agger, Jermaine Pennant and Xabi Alonso are still sidelined for the home side.
Porto go into the game in a good run of form as they still unbeaten in this season's Champions League and their own domestic league.
Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira has close to a full-strength squad available as the Portuguese side go in search of their first victory on English soil.
