occasionally he has got Villa playing well, occasionally. Ive watched a lot of Villa games, esp at Villa Park, and they've been very negative, and pretty poor. No offence. I've seen Portsmouth play better football, Reading, Spurs, Everton, Liverpool even....
the point is, there isnt a manager in the Premiership, outside of Fergie, Wenger & Rafa, who is any better qualified than McClaren. Giving the job to a mid-table Premiership manager is simply a sideways step....we need a radical step forwards at this time. O'Neill is a likeable fella, and one of the better BBC pundits in his time, but he isnt a fantastic manager imo. he has never really handled top top, mega rich players (no offence to Celtic, Leicester or Villa here) and their egos, and that cant be underestimated here. also, it seems to slip peoples minds that to employ a Northern Irishman because he is "the best BRITISH option" is moving the goalposts somewhat, O'Neill is foreign in terms of being English, so why not go for the best FOREIGN option....?
Capello has confirmed his interest, that sounds good to me. If any manager knows how to create a system and let his players know whats expected of him, its someone like him.
