Boavista FC have announced the return of coach Jaime Pacheco, following the sacking on Saturday night of Pacheco's successor, Erwin Sánchez.

Spanish sojourn
Pacheco is back at the helm of the Porto-based club, having left Boavista last summer to take charge of Spain's RCD Mallorca - an association that lasted only three months.

Back sooner than expected
The 45-year-old led Boavista to their only Portuguese league title in 2000/01, as well as last season's UEFA Cup semi-finals, during a five-year spell at the Estádio do Bessa. "I was expecting to return to Boavista but not so soon," said Pacheco, who has signed a two-and-a-half year contract.

Disappointing draw
Sánchez and Boavista parted company in the wake of Saturday's 1-1 home league draw with lowly FC Paços de Ferreira, a result that left the club in seventh place in the SuperLiga.
