Default Joachim Löw thread

Germany coach Joachim Low is to be offered a new deal by the German Football Federation (DFB).

Low, who took over from Jurgen Klinsmann after the 2006 World Cup, has already secured qualification to the Euro 2008 finals.

His current contract is due to expire after next summer's tournament in Austria and Switzerland and the DFB are keen for Low to guide the national side to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

DFB president Theo Zwanziger said: "Our goal is to keep him on after Euro 2008 to South Africa, because we know exactly what we get with Low.

"Since 2004, he has done a lot for German football."

Under Low, Germany have lost just once in 14 matches when a weakened side was beaten 1-0 by Denmark in a friendly back in March.

The coach is ready to open talks, but want assurances over the influence he will have throughout German football.

Low said: "If the DFB want to speak about a new contract, I am ready.

"But I would like to know if they are more convinced by my results or my methods.

"In addition, it is important to have control of the coaching methods and team philosophy from the national side down to the junior teams.

"It is important for me to know these things."
