Tomas Ujfalusi will sign a new contract rather than leaving Fiorentina on a Bosman transfer, his agent has insisted.

The defender has less than a year left on his current contract and it was widely expected that he would be heading out of the Stadio Franchi come the end of term.

However, Giorgio De Giorgis is almost certain that his client will eventually end up signing an extension with the Tuscan giants.

“We’ve had offers from Spain, Sevilla in particular, as well as English and Italian clubs,” noted the representative.

“But Ufo wants to make a life decision as well as a footballing one. I’m 95 per cent sure that he will stay as Fiorentina want him and he wants Fiorentina.

“After all, he could never turn his back on the Viola fans and join a rival club like Juventus for example.”

So why hasn’t the Czech Republic international not yet put pen to paper on a new agreement with the UEFA Cup entrants?

“Our relationship with the club is good, but there are economical issues to resolve and I’m sure they will be sorted out,” added Giorgis.

“After all, boss Cesare Prandelli sees him as the best full-back in Europe at this moment in time...”
