Viola stars deny rift Monday 24 September, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fiorentina striking duo Adrian Mutu and Christian Vieri have rubbished talk of a spat after a shouting match during the Viola’s win over Catania.

Cesare Prandelli’s side have enjoyed a superb start to the season and a Mutu goal saw the Gigliati clinch all three points in Sicily.

However, on several occasions Mutu and Vieri were involved in angry exchanges after passes didn’t reach their intended locations.

“It wasn’t a big row, it’s just the way that we talk on the field,” Vieri explained. “It’s something we both understand.

“After we had shouted a bit he put two great passes through that I should have taken advantage of.”

“I have a good relationship with Vieri on the pitch,” Mutu agreed.

“We played very well to take three points from Catania. I scored and I nearly gave Chrstian an assist so I am satisfied.”

Fiorentina host Roma on Wednesday in Week 5’s big match.
