Germany’s 2-0 win over Wales has all but assured their qualification for next year’s finals in Austria/ Switzerland.
National trainer Joachim Löw, although not complacent, sees the pressure as now being off his side.
“The line-up of the group was excellent, but now the pressure to win is off of us. We have everything in hand.
“Today we took a huge step and I’m absolutely delighted with the result. We started strongly, played good football and raised the tempo later in the game.
“A lot of things were good, but there are still a few things to work on. Our final pass was often lacking.”
Two-goal hero Miroslav Klose was also pleased with the performance.
“We are clear leaders in the group, and we will carry on playing this way. We continue to bring talent into the team, who establish themselves well. We are on a very promising path.”
Man of the Match Bastian Schweinsteiger added, “We played well and controlled the game. In the first half we could have scored a few more goals.”
