Women's Soccer Falls to Eastern Michigan in Season Opener
September 4, 2007
Box Score
A sluggish first half of action, followed by a flurry of goals in the opening minutes of the second half doomed the Titans as they fell to Eastern Michigan 4-0 in UDM's opening match of 2007.
The Titans (0-1-0) battled the Eagles (1-1-0) to a scoreless first half, that saw neither team mount any real offense or generate many real scoring opportunities. Things would change quickly in the second half, as Eastern scored two goals in a five minute span that would provide all the offense that the Eagles would need. They would add goals in the 72nd and 85th minute to put the game out of reach.
Detroit was able to record just one shot in the second half as Eastern kept up a high level of pressure. Liz Hardy and Rachel Stesney both notched two shots on goal for the Titans. Goalkeeper Katie Fortenberry was busy on the day as she recorded six saves.
The Titans return to action when they travel to Toledo on Friday for a 5:00 pm engagement.
