Titans To Open Season On The Road vs. Eastern Michigan
September 4, 2007

The Detroit Titans women's soccer team (0-0-0) kicks off the 2007 season in earnest today when they travel to Eastern Michigan (0-1-0). It was believed that the Titans had started the season last week when they defeated Saginaw Valley State 3-2 in overtime, but a scheduling gaffe rendered the game nothing more than a final tune up for the season.

The scheduling issue wasted what was an "ugly win" thanks to the right foot of Trina Kochanksi who netted the game winner with less than one minute remaining in overtime. Archana Wadhawan, and Lauren Moss added goals for the Titans with Nicole Gipson tallying the only Titan assist.

Eastern Michigan is coming off of a 3-1 loss to Eastern Illinois in their season opener played last Friday evening. EMU took a 1-0 lead into the half, but allowed three second half goals as EIU stormed back for the win.

Note that the game was originally scheduled to be held in Detroit, but continuing construction on the Titans' home field has forced the game to be played at Scicluna Filed in Ypsilanti, MI.

Today's game is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm.
