Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas hailed the "unity" of the team as they ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over Portsmouth in the Premier League.

The Spaniard was the Gunners' star performer, scoring their second goal after they went in front through Emmanuel Adebayor's penalty.

Tomas Rosicky netted the third in the 59th minute before Kanu pulled one back for Pompey, with the Gunners playing all but four minutes of the second half with 10 men after Philippe Senderos was sent off for a professional foul.

All the talk this week has surrounded takeover speculation at the north London club but Fabregas is adamant there is focus and togetherness among the players.

He told Sky Sports: "Once again we have shown this team is going up, it has unity and defensively we are much much better and we know we can score goals.

"The most important thing is we have unity and we are playing well as a team."

Centre-half Kolo Toure added: "We played against a really good side, the game was really hard but at the end of the game we were really focused and felt we could score at any time, and Gilberto did really well at the back."
