Bates is an evil vindictive pestulant skipper and skiver of a man.

So I admire him, on the grounds that he's gonedown with the ship giving it chance of getting back up, however small that chance may be. And as for using legal loopholes - it's exactly what I'd do.

Used to not like Leeds fans, to be perfectly honest, I no longer know any Leeds fans to dislike. They played quick attractive football on the pitch in the Prem, but I wasn't wallowing in pity when they went down - I really didn't like their fans, and the club, of course, were our rivals. I won't be wishing them back up, but if by some spectacular miracle they make it, I'll be the first Manchester United supporter to applaud them.

But if they keep playing unpayed players, I'll throw bottles at Elland Road.
