Striker signs Ipswich deal
Quote:
Alan Lee has quashed speculation about his future by signing a new contract with Ipswich Town.
The striker was wanted by Championship rivals Hull City, who have already had two bids turned down this summer.
Hull retained an interest in the Republic of Ireland international, but will now have to look elsewhere for a new front man.
Lee, who had 12 months remaining on his previous deal, has committed himself to Ipswich until 2009.
Delighted
An option for a further year is also included and Portman Road chief Jim Magilton is delighted with Lee's decision.
"We have been talking with Alan about a new contract over the last few weeks and I'm delighted that everything has now been agreed," Magilton told the club's official website.
"There has been speculation about his future lately, but Alan was our top scorer last season and is a valuable member of our first-team squad.
"We have always made it clear that we wanted to keep him here at Portman Road."
