Calderón Confident About Robben And Drenthe
Quote:
Ramón Caldéron is prepared to be patient over the transfer of Arjen Robben to Real Madrid, but admitted that the move for Royston Drenthe was still in the early stages.
The Bernabéu president was optimistic about the chances of both players joining los Merengues before the start of the seasonas he spoke openly to Spanish radio.
Robben has been a long-term target and Calderón stated that he is prepared to continue talking to Chelsea about the Dutchman.
"The player has already expressed his interest, but there has been no agreement with Chelsea," he said.
"The talks will continue over the new few days, and even weeks and if the economic aspect is good then I think that he is a player that we could sign.
Madrid's technical team have also targetted Drenthe and have made their interest known to Feyenoord, but there is still a long way to go according to Calderón.
"There is interest and it is being negotiated," he continued.
"It is not an operation that one can say is close to becoming a reality yet, however."
Bernd Schuster is believed to want both Robben and Drenthe, but is equally focussed on trimming his new squad after taking over last week.
The club had already agred to sign Pepe, Christoph Metzelder, Javier Saviola and Jerzy Dudek before the German was officially appointed.
