Corradi wants Lazio comeback Sunday 15 July, 2007

Bernardo Corradi impressed in Sven Goran Eriksson’s first match for Manchester City, but has begged Lazio to bring him home.

“My objective is to return to Italy and Lazio would be at the top of my list,” commented the centre-forward.

“I know the club is on the look-out for a new striker and that would be absolutely brilliant for me.”

Corradi had a starring role in the opening friendly of the campaign, scoring one and setting up another in Man City’s 3-1 victory over Doncaster.

But the arrival of £8.8m signing Rolando Bianchi – who was in the stands for that game – limits the space that he will have this term.

The former Chievo hitman is willing to take a pay-cut to return to Lazio’s Stadio Olimpico, accepting their new salary cap.

“When you really want something, then intelligent people can easily come to an agreement,” he told ‘Teleradiostereo.’

“I know some people don’t like returns, but aside from that, Rome is an exceptional city and Lazio remain in my heart.”

Corradi scored 23 goals in 69 appearances for the Biancocelesti, but was sold to Valencia in 2004 when the club risked bankruptcy.

“There was an old debt with Valencia that had to be paid and President Claudio Lotito achieved that by handing over Stefano Fiore and myself. He managed to turn around a dramatic situation.”

So much so, in fact, that this year Lazio are in the Champions League preliminary round.
