Eugenio Corini faces a new challenge and the 37-year-old is certain his Torino can trouble the big boys.

He was thrown out of Palermo after hesitating over a new contract and was almost immediately picked up by Walter Novellino’s side.

“I am certain that Torino can trouble the major clubs this season,” said the veteran midfielder who turns 37 at the end of this month.

“It will be important to face every game with humility and determination. Considering the history and prestige of Toro, we players have to give our best, so I hope we can end our campaign in the top half of the table.”

Corini certainly has experience of taking unfancied sides to incredible heights, as he took both Chievo and Palermo from Serie B to the UEFA Cup.

“I chose Toro because I saw a great united vision between President Urbano Cairo and Coach Novellino. They believed in me from the start and made me feel like an important part of this project.

“I am very grateful to them for that and will do everything I can to repay that faith on the field.”

Corini started his career at Brescia before making his Serie A debut with Juventus in 1990. He has also played for Sampdoria, Napoli, Piacenza, Verona, Chievo and Palermo.
