Becoming the Coach of Torino is a childhood dream come true, says new helmer Walter Novellino.

“I grew up with these colours in my heart, so now to train players wearing the Granata shirt is a dream come true,” he explained from their pre-season training camp.

“This is like the first day of school… except this time I am the teacher!”

Novellino made the move to Turin after five years in charge of Sampdoria and has brought in players such as Eugenio Corini, Vincenzo Grella, Nicola Ventola, Sasa Bjelanovic and Matteo Sereni.

“I have the squad I wanted and this team will be able to trouble everyone they face. The new signings were picked in full agreement with the club and they acted brilliantly on the transfer market.”

Toro will certainly be hoping for a better performance than last season, when they finished just one point clear of the relegation zone.

“Will we proclaim our ambitions? No, we just have to focus on working hard so that we can get a good start in Serie A. The rest will come naturally as a consequence.”
