New Inter signing David Suazo has claimed that he never had any doubts about which club he wanted to join this summer.

The Honduran was at the centre of a tug-of-war between the Nerazzurri and city rivals Milan, but the Rossoneri then ended the feud by pulling out of negotiations when the striker’s desire was clear.

“I have to admit that I never considered the idea of not being an Inter player next year,” Suazo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I was calm and my agent Giovanni Branchini did all he could to reassure me,” added the former Cagliari man, who is in currently back in Sardinia with his new club for their traditional pre-season retreat.

“The problem wasn’t that I didn’t feel like a Milanista, the fact is that after the end of the campaign I only knew about the possibility of joining one club and that was Inter.

“I didn’t choose between the two options, Inter followed me, wanted me and were there when I needed a turning point in my career. I had only thing in mind, I wanted Inter.”

Coach Roberto Mancini was one of the player’s greatest supporters and reacted furiously to the news that the Diavoli were on the verge of signing the Rossoblu star.

“The tactician always stated that he appreciated my characteristics and that he would have been glad to welcome me, even before I signed. That was enough for me, I was even happier than him,” said Suazo.

“To be here means a lot to me, this represents the beginning of my second life as a footballer,” concluded the prolific hitman.
