Mesto eyes Roma switch

Reggina midfielder Giandomenico Mesto has admitted that joining Roma would be a dream come true.

The 25-year-old, seems set to leave the Stadio Granillo and makes no secret that the capital club remains the first one on his wish list after also being linked with the Giallorossi in January.

“I really hope I join Roma, it would be a dream come true,” Mesto told Radio Radio.

“I have always wanted to play there since I was a child, although I have to admit that no one has contacted me since the end of the last season,” added the midfielder.

“That is why I don’t want to delude myself until there is something concrete to talk about. I can only say that I feel ready to play for an important club and Roma are my first choice.”

Mesto also admitted that he is eager to play in the Champions League next season, another reason why the Giallorossi appeals to him.

“I couldn’t ask for anything better, everyone dreams of appearing in the Champions League,” he explained.

“I think Roma play the most spectacular football in the Italian championship, I think I would adapt perfectly to their tactics,” concluded Mesto.

Sporting director Daniele Prade is expected to contact the player shortly, as soon as the Giallorossi complete the sale of defender Cristian Chivu.
