I saw that Frank. However, I don't think we can say Wilpon is "close" to acquiring a team. This is the first it is being reported anywhere and will take some time to gel. I hope they don't end up playing in the Mets new stadium (CitiField). Soccer doesn't work well in baseball parks (IMO). On the other hand, Queens is a great place for a soccer team...can draw Long Island fans and is a natural fit for the most ethnically diverse borough in the nation (I beleive this is true). A soccer-specific stadium alongside the new Mets stadium would be ideal and will easily turn a profit, as hosts of other events can be booked (as will be done with Red Bull park). If the NY metro area can support 3 hockey teams, it can certainly support 2 soccer teams.

(speaking of hockey...sorry to hear you are a Ranger fan Frank. Lifelong Islander supporter here 8) )
