Werder Bremen are on the verge of signing Brazilian Carlos Alberto.
The Bild Zeitung reports that the talented midfielder will join on a season-long loan with the option to buy at the end of this period.
The deal will cost Werder around €1 million, and he will join fellow Brazilians Diego and Naldo at the Weser Stadion.
Carlos Alberto has already played in Europe having had a spell with FC Porto in 2004.
He scored Porto’s first goal in their 3-0 victory over Monaco.
He has 5 international caps for Brazil and is currently playing for Fluminense, although he is officially owned by Corinthians.
Bundesliga rivals Hamburg are also reported to be interested.
