we might have to face Mexico in the quarter finals
Donovan Wary Of El Tricolor 13/06/07
U.S. National Team star Landon Donovan wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about Mexico’s Gold Cup loss to Honduras, and figures that it may even make their arch rivals more dangerous as the tourney wears on.
A loss or draw against Panama on Wednesday would suddenly see the tournament’s co-favorites meeting up in the quarterfinals.
"I was happy they lost," Donovan told the Boston Globe of his initial impulse. "Then I thought 'oh my God, we could be playing them Saturday' - that would be awesome, I would love it."
Of course, the Galaxy man quickly wandered from feeling Schadenfreude to concern.
"Mexico is struggling, but they could win four in a row," warned Donovan. "You can't count them out, but they need to sort something out - they've got to win."
