Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu confirmed he is keen to remain in Florence.
Star striker Adrian Mutu is confident that his future will be with Fiorentina. “I have no doubts, this is where I want to stay,” he confirmed.
The Romanian international joined the Viola from Juventus last summer and has formed a prolific partnership with Luca Toni, having scored 31 goals together this term, in what has been a somewhat difficult season for the club.
“My future is here in Florence,” said Mutu. “This has been an important season for me. I knew we could do well but we have exceeded all expectations.
“I am pleased with my performances this year. Now we want to focus on earning a UEFA Cup spot and I think we are ready to win the points we need to secure a place in Europe next season.
“This has been a long and difficult championship, which kept us constantly under pressure and I think I have given my contribution to the team’s results.”
Toni has been linked with a summer move, but Mutu preferred to talk about the upcoming game against Cagliari rather than his strike partner’s future.
“Luca is a Fiorentina player and he is very important for this club,” said Muti, who was sacked by Chelsea after testing positive for cocaine. “He is a great footballer, as well as a world champion, and he has given his all for us this year."
“Now, however, we must concentrate on Sunday. We have a crucial match ahead of us and we want to win in order to get the three points”, Mutu concluded.
