Cottagers hopeful over Hornets target Wed, May 09 2007 13:18
Lawrie Sanchez believes he can secure the signature of Watford target David Healy for Fulham if he gets the permanent manager's job.
The Northern Ireland manager is confident of persuading Leeds United's prolific international marksman to choose Craven Cottage over Watford, Sunderland and Olympique Marseille - if he stays on after guiding the club to virtual Premiership safety.
And Fulham are set to offer Sanchez a long-term deal, according to the Belfast Telegraph, who report that the ex-Wimbledon star will combine his international duties with a Premiership post for at least the next six months.
Healy is expected to leave Leeds following their relegation to League One and the chance to team up with international boss Sanchez may well appeal to the player.
Caretaker-boss Sanchez became the front-runner for the Fulham job after Saturday's 1-0 home win over Liverpool persuaded chairman Mohammed Fayed he could arrest the club's recent slump.
