The BBC are today reporting that a consortium are ready to bid £50 million for Charlton Athletic. The group are said to be the same businessmen who tried to buy Liverpool earlier this season.
Charlton had been valued at £80 million but that price has come down by £30 million after the club were relegated from the Premiership by Tottenham on monday evening.
Relegation has not put the consortium off who see the SE7 club as a very good investment. Charlton own The Valley ground and also have an excellent academy and Training ground.
Charlton chief executive Peter Varney has denied the reports saying: "The takeover rumour is totally unfounded.
