Ridsdale: Stop blaming me
Quote:
Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale wants Leeds United fans to stop blaming him for the club's current predicament.
The Whites are on the verge of slipping into League One, four years after Ridsdale left Elland Road with the club saddled with debt.
Ridsdale has admitted he made mistakes while in charge of the fallen giants, but feels everyone concerned now with the club needs to look forward, rather than back.
"I feel very sorry for Leeds United. I've always wished them well since I left," he told Sky Sports News.
"I'm a bit sick and tired of people blaming me. It's been four years since I left. I don't expect to be told it's my responsibility they look as if they're going into League One.
"I left the club in a very strong position in terms of playing squad. They clearly had £78.9million of debt which could have been serviced if they retained their Premiership status.
"One day soon hopefully people will start looking forward. What purpose does it serve four years after I left if people think it's easy for people to vent their frustration at me.
"It's dead easy for people to point the finger. Clearly we made mistakes and I've admitted that, but I've not made mistakes there over the past four years.
"Till Leeds United supporters stop blaming me for everything that's happened in the past they will never get it right. Their current plight is not my fault."
