Australia international Mark Bresciano is having second thoughts about remaining in Italy too much longer.
Bresciano left Australian outfit Carlton in 1999 for Italy and hasn't looked back, playing for Empoli and Parma before joining Palermo last year.
"The main reason I went to Palermo was because I saw the team they were building," he told The Age recently. "I saw the coach that they got and I knew they had big ambitions as a club - and I also knew I would have a good chance of playing.
The midfielder, though, has been put off by the scandals that rocked Italian club football last year.
"All the stuff that happened with the match-fixing, not knowing which clubs were getting relegated or punished with points losses, that stopped me a bit from making other moves."
What other moves Bresciano did not expand upon, but it is believed the Melbourne native now has an eye for the Premiership.
"In England, they take it more as a sport," added Bresicano, who has Italian and Croatian heritage. "People go to enjoy it, which in Italy is probably not the same.
"I think I am starting to have second thoughts. My dream was always to play for a big club in Italy, but I am not as strong as I was five or six years ago about staying only in Italy."
