Rogers leaving Friesland
US Under-20 attacker Robbie Rogers will be released from his Heerenveen deal later this week, allowing him to latch on with a MLS club before the 2007 season begins.
The University of Maryland product's contract, signed just over six months ago, was to run through the end of the 2008/09 season.
"From the 1st of March, we will end the contract at his request," Heerenveen press liaison Tina Lagerweg told YA.
"He would like to go back to the United States. He is only 19 and wanted to be in America, so we respected his wish."
Rogers, who had yet to appear in the first team alongside fellow Yank Michael Bradley, scored twice in 10 Young Heerenveen appearances.
