Internacional appear to have been worthy winners opver the two legs; some abject defending from both sides, with a particularly bad spill by the Sao Paolo keeper for the first Internacional goal.

Palmeiras definitely finished in one of the relegation places in the last ten years, but were saved by one of those Texeira special post facto rule changes taking into account results over the last five years and the number of ginger players in the squad or some such.

That said, I seem to recall that they went down again for "real" a bit later, perhaps around the time that they ceased to be propped up by Parmalat.

I have soft spots for both Flamengo and (especially) Corinthians, but it would do wonders for the largely non-existant credibility of Brazilian club football for one or both of them to go down.

BTW, Borussia Dortmund have just signed Tinga.
