Question Nedved first to go?

Pavel Nedved may be set to quit Juventus for The Premiership after his agent revealed that Tottenham have made an offer for the Czech star.

“Pavel can still play in any top league,” claimed Zdenek Nehoda. “Monaco, Tottenham and some clubs from the UAE and Qatar have made offers.”

Nedved signed for Juve from Lazio in July 2001 for £25m and thrived in Turin, being named by Pelè as one of the 125 top living footballers in March 2004.

While several Juve players have already made it clear that their futures lie away from the Delle Alpi, Nedved’s plans remain unclear.

However, it looks increasingly likely that the 33-year-old will now reject Serie B football and try and make the most of his final few seasons.

Juventus are appealing against the Calciopoli verdict that sends them into Serie B with a 30-point deduction. If the appeal fails, the Bianconeri may face a mass exodus with nine key players already rumoured to be seeking transfers.

However, Arsenal Coach Arsene Wenger has claimed that the wage demands of Juve’s top players may be a stumbling block. “The players’ wages are too high for us,” lamented the Frenchmen.

“What has happened in Italy will inevitably disturb the market but don’t forget that the Juve players are very well paid and not many clubs in the world can afford to pay these wages.”
