Clubs who "loan" their players to International teams should receive some form of compensation if their players are injured whilst on International duty. I'm a firm believer in this, and always have been.
It's irrelevant how they got injured. If they are on International duty and they get injured, that Country's FA should compensate the club. I couldn't care less if Owen had ruptured his loin chops doing a salsa dance dressed in Sol's Gimp outfit. He was on International duty and from the minute you leave to represent England until the minute you return to your club, you are under England's control.
A point about strikers. Somebody mentioned Dean Ashton for Newcastle. What a great shout. I think he has the ability to be the next Shearer and wouldn't mind him for Man Utd tbh.
