SL Benfica have awarded a new four-year contract to forward Manu, who spent last season on loan at CF Estrela da Amadora.

The 23-year-old joined the Lisbon club from FC Alverca on a four-year deal in the summer of 2004 and has subsequently been sent to gain experience with Italian sides Modena FC and AC Carpenedolo as well as Amadora. He is expected to have a part in Benfica's plans for the 2006/07 campaign, when the Portuguese team will compete in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.
