Chivas wins fourth straight game
Chivas Win Fourth Straight 03/04/06
Chivas 3 – 2 Tuzos
Alberto Medina struck in the 90th minute to give Guadalajara a gut-wrenching 3-2 win over Pachuca on Sunday, extending their winning streak to four games.
The Chivas stayed perfect under Jose Manuel ‘Chepo’ de la Torre, who became the club's fourth coach since August when he replaced Dutchman Hans Westerhof last month.
Just as he did last week in Mexico’s friendly victory over Paraguay, Omar Bravo connected twice as Chivas raced to a 2-0 lead after 30 minutes.
Bravo fired Guadalajara ahead after only 35 seconds, then doubled the flock’s advantage in the 28th minute with a lucky rebound.
Colombian Andres Chitiva got Pachuca back in the game with a near post header from a corner in the 43rd minute, and then provided the cross for Marvin Cabrera to tie it with another header in the 74th minute.
But a long kick up-field from goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez in the last minute found Medina, who placed his shot under Miguel Calero to seal victory.
“I’ve tried to be aggressive and have had a few chances,” said Omar Bravo, who was included into Mexico’s World Cup roster. “This has to keep going, make a habit of it, and hopefully there will be many months like this one.”
The victory moved Chivas up to second place in Group 3 with 22 points in 13 games. Pachuca stayed atop Group 2 with 24 points, five ahead of defending champions …
